Be at peace

You said you could not stay

You vanished before my eyes

You said you’d felt unwell for years

It wasn’t me or anyone else

This was your own horror

A cause of so much sorrow

You’d played a part

Made it your art

A grand performance

So nobody could see

The part of you that fell apart

I said I was there for you

It was good to talk

That conversation was powerful medicine

But my endeavour only fuelled your sadness

You said your ailment didn’t want to hear

Just to disappear

Deep inside

Your soul was worn, torn

You didn’t want to participate

But to disipate

Life was too hard

You’d have to go away

To find peace
